Birthday Shout Outs & Such

Seems there are a few other January Capricorns running around out there.  Not only is my birthday on Saturday, but so is my Mom’s and Erin’s of Gluten-free Fitness!  Happy birthday Erin & Mom!  I hope you both have great days!  My Mom will be coming to town in a few weeks so we can celebrate our special day.  Aaron & I are going out to dinner with friends tonight to enjoy some adult conversation.

Here you go Erin & Mom:

Over the past few days I have been mostly trying to stay warm, but when I had to venture out, I found an amazing discovery at Raisin Rack – you can read more about it here.

Burger King is now offering gluten-free menu choices.

Did you hear about The Washington Post’s article about Celiac Disease being “in” in 2010?    While I am overjoyed that more press=more awareness=more people getting much-needed diagnoses, I am also concerned that this will lead to the gluten-free diet being labeled as a fad diet & not being taken seriously by places serving gluten-free foods to those that really do need them.

Word on the street is that Mellow Mushroom is currently working on a gluten-free pizza crust.  This is what they “tweeted” to me the other day:

@kbouldin Mellow Mushroom is currently working on a gf pizza crust but its not ready just yet….Its Coming Soon!

YAY!!!  There is a Mellow Mushroom right up the street from me!

Did you catch my review of Glow Gluten-free Cookies?  Amazing!

Hope you all have a nice weekend.  🙂

  1. Yay! What a way to start the birthday! Thanks for the good wishes, Kim-and right back at you and your Mom.
    Have a fantastic day!

  2. Happy Birthday, Kim! (Though I feel like you’ve given me a birthday present with the good news about Raisin Rack. I’m totally going there today — and I’m already contemplating my lunch menu for work next week around it.)

Like you, I have really dry skin too — all year ’round, but particularly bad during the winter. (It has been better since going GF this past year.) I think I’ll have to check out that lotion at Trader Joe’s.

Hope you guys have a great evening out!

    • Thanks Michelle! 🙂 We had a wonderful evening. We went to Hyde Park at Crosswoods. I love their filet mignon & creme brulee. They are great about eating gluten-free, too.

  3. Hope you had a wonderful birthday weekend!!! 🙂 Enjoy yourself!!

  4. Thanks again for the heads up about Udi’s bread at Raisin Rack. I bought a loaf of the white sandwich bread on Saturday, and packed my first sandwich with it for work today. It was SO awesome — taste, texture. Yummy! (No toasting, microwaving required. How great is that? Of course, I did bring my sandwich meat in a separate container — I didn’t want to mess up the bread before I had a chance to sink my teeth into it.)

Even though I have tons of foods/leftovers I could/should take for lunch tomorrow, I’m already contemplating my sandwich options instead. He he!

    • Michelle, I have to tell you, that the meat won’t ruin the bread! It is truly a miracle. I have had my bread on the counter for 5 days now & it still tastes great! Wait until you try the pizza crust (sadly only available online now). Did you get any muffins at RR? They rock as well. 🙂 I swear I don’t work for Udi’s (though I wish I did!). LOL!

  5. […] many birthday wishes on Facebook, Twitter, and my friend Kim at Gluten Free is Life, gave me a birthday shout out on her blog. Yesterday was Kim’s (and her mom’s!) birthday as well. I had a wonderful […]
