I have been noticing, as have others around the blogosphere, that the Lara Bars seem to have gotten smaller recently. I haven’t figured out yet if the new flavors are just smaller or if maybe the size varies between flavors as well. When I was shopping today at Raisin Rack, I ventured into the Lara Bar section to do a little field research. The bars ranged in size by weight from 1.6oz to 1.8 oz. The newer flavors definitely appeared smaller (shorter). I bought 2 “old” flavors, Cherry Pie (1.7oz) and a Key Lime Pie (1.8oz). The Cherry Pie is visibly smaller than the Key Lime Pie. I don’t remember them being like this in the past.
When I got home, I brought out my new PB & J Lara Bar (1.7oz) & took a picture of it next to a Coconut Chocolate Chew (1.8oz). You can see in the pics that the CCC is visibly bigger than the PB & J. CCC has been around for a while, while PB & J is one of the 3 new flavors.
I don’t know, maybe I am obsessing too much over the whole thing! LOL!
What I do know is this: the new flavors ROCK! I love the PB & J & Tropical Tart. I still haven’t tried the German Chocolate Cake because I am obviously too busy analyzing the size of my Lara Bars.

My son and me, November 2000. This is before we were gluten-free/diagnosed Celiac.

Nice detective work lady
Thanks
Are the smaller ones still the same price as the bigger ones? Because if so, totally not cool Larabars!
Yes, same price.
They actually just messaged me on Twitter & said they have had some maufacturing issues & asked for my email address.
Very interesting! I wonder if they are trying to make the calories lower? Weird!
The calories are the same! LOL!
I just bought the JamFraks bars from Lara Bar and noticed how small they were. I was really disappointed in the size and probably won’t buy them again. I do think they are a good option for my gluten-free nieces who are two years old. It is a perfect hand-held snack for a child.

Yes, those bars are marketed towards kids, so they are a lot smaller. I don’t normally buy those. It is perfect for younger kids, though.
lol, this is so weird
i still love em though
Yeah, the taste is the same. I love them!
New flavors! Where have I been. PB & J sounds great. Love to keep them in my bag wherever I go. I agree, they do seem to be shrinking.
Yeah, the PB & J rocks! The Tropical Tart is very good as well. I have yet to try the German Chocolate Cake, but I bet it is good, too.
Kim, I have noticed that to some time ago!
Pam,
I updated in my blog post today that they offered to replace all of my smaller bars.
Hopefully they get their manufacturing issues worked out. The bars still taste great!
Wow, that’s great! It’s been a couple of months ago that I thought they were smaller!
i’d noticed this, too – i was just googling around to see if anyone else had. i thought it was just one of those cost-saving measures. i order cases of them through a bulk buying club…
Larabar got back with me & said it was a manufacturing problem. They replaced all of my “smaller” bars.
The Lara Bars ARE smaller! NOT really happy with that, considering how much raw food I eat, will think twice about buying them & will consider mailng my own with teh “copcat” recipes found on the internet.
Guess I’m late to realize it, but I was wondering about the size too. The tiny bars leave quite a void of space in the wrapper. I doubt this is a manufacturing issue as it is still happening after all this time. I really feel like I’m getting gypped. Guess I’ll try the homemade recipes…
